What are Motion Vectors and how do you generate them?
VFX motion vectors are 2D data passes that map the screen-space movement of pixels from one frame to the next. They define which direction objects move, allowing compositors to add realistic motion blur or warp footage in post-production without re-rendering.
You can generate accurate Motion Vectors for a shot in Slapshot quickly and accurately in the following way:
Method !: Generate Motion Vectors for the full shot
Choose a shot from the shots panel (or upload a new video). Next, click the `Generate Motion Vectors` button on the bottom right. Our AI will begin to analyze the video and generate motion vectors for the full shot. You will be notified once the process is completed.
You can review the output once done and then choose to export the results.
Method 2: Choose Region of Interest
Sometimes, you many not want to generate motion vectors for the entire video. Instead, you would like our AI to only concentrate on a particular region in the shot to get the highest accuracy in motion vectors.
This can be done ny clicking the `Add Region of Interest` button on the top right. Then proceed to mark our the area you woul like our AI to focus on. Once done, go ahead and click on the `Generate Motion Vectors` on the bottom right to generate the output.
